Perth & Kinross Housing Options

Housing options

Introduction

Introduction

Welcome to Perth & Kinross Council's Housing Options Self-Assessment tool (HOSA)

Please take the time to read this page before you begin.  And remember, if you are using a public computer to access HOSA, please remember to log out when you finish to protect your personal details.

What is the purpose of HOSA?

Perth & Kinross is a very popular place to live.

Unfortunately there is a limited availability of affordable housing to rent, for example, on average 800 properties become available for rent each year from the main three housing providers in Perth & Kinross (Council, Caledonia and Hillcrest Housing Association).

However, there are approximately over 3,500 households on the Common Housing Register.  This means that we are not in a position to offer a property to everyone who applies for housing and those that are made an offer are people in urgent housing need such as people who are homeless, those with a medical need and families living in overcrowded accommodation.

As there is more demand for affordable housing than supply, this tool has been created to assist you in finding out all the housing options that are available to you.  By answering questions relating to your household size, tenure, income, etc. this helpful housing options self-assessment, will provide you with a personalised summary of the housing options that are suitable to you.

At the end of the assessment, you will be provided with an Action Plan (which you can email or print off) which provides details on the next steps you may wish to take to help resolve your housing situation.

You can also access information on benefits advice, financial and budgeting advice, employability agencies and links to the following:

On average it takes between 10 to 15 minutes to enter your personal information.  You may then want to take time to read through your options, but remember you can come back to your Case anytime by using the unique reference number the system will provide and print out your Action Plan for reference.

If you experience any issues when using this service please:

  • ask a member of staff for assistance (if in a Perth & Kinross Office) or:
  • alternatively call 01738 476000 between 8.45am and 5.00pm Monday to Friday advising your enquiry is for a Live HOSA case.

Please note that completing HOSA does not mean that you have applied for housing with the three main housing providers in Perth & Kinross. Instructions on how to do this are provided in the Social Housing information page and your Action Plan.

As a condition of using this tool, you agree and consent to Perth & Kinross Council using, and sharing, with third parties, your contact information (i.e. your name, email and physical / postal address and / or other contact details) for all purposes directly connected with your housing option information.
